This lakeside Wayzata home, featured in Architectural Digest (February 2017), represents a thoughtful renovation that elegantly merges art, architecture, and nature. The original 1970s structure provided a solid foundation, with its twelve-foot-high ceilings and iconic central salon preserved. However, the layout was reimagined to layer space with intention, offering uninterrupted views of the courtyard and surrounding landscape from every room.

The design frames the homeowners' extensive modern art and furniture collection, with quiet gray plaster walls acting as a refined backdrop for the gallery space. In contrast, the master bathroom boasts a striking material choice—walls clad in Bianco Ondulare marble, introducing an element of drama and sophistication.

Key to the project was the use of a luxurious yet understated material palette, replacing dated details with richer, more contemporary finishes. Adjacent rooms facing the courtyard are adorned with traditional wood paneling, reinterpreted through lacquered frames in deep, rich hues, creating a dynamic contrast.

Collaborating closely with landscape architects Coen + Partners, the courtyards, roof garden, and terrace further blur the boundaries between the interior and exterior, reinforcing the connection between art, architecture, and nature in this beautifully executed home.
